Very Sad

I know with all the stuff going on in my life that this is very minor, but I'm still sad.  I just canceled my cable service.  *sniffle*  I really can't afford it any more.  I only held on this long to catch the season finale of Doctor Who.  But it's still a sad day for me.  My TV is old and crappy, definitely not digital, so no local channels either.  I'll be a strictly Netflix and internet girl for the next month.

And now if you'll excuse me, I need to quick watch this week's episodes of The Closer, Leverage, and Drop Dead Diva before the DVR is deactivated.

  1. Ooh, sad! But it'll be ok, I promise. My husband and I cancelled satellite a few months ago and are enjoying ourselves. We're using Plex-- it's an aggregator for all the TV goodness that's out there on the internet.

  2. We don't have cable. Can't afford it. I haven't seen What Not to Wear or Soapnet in over a year. I survived. You'll do fine.

  3. Plex- cool, I'll check into it!

    I know it's silly, and I know I'll be fine. It's just that I'm on disability and I live by myself, so the internet and TV are pretty much my only connections with the world most of the time. (I'm keeping the internet! They'll have to pry that one out of my cold, dead hands.)

    The next few days will probably be weird, but I'll adjust!

  4. Hulu.com has a lot of current stuff updating, and if they don't have one, the show's site will.

    I know that Drop Dead Diva is up at the Lifetime site, and I've watched Leverage at TNT.com before when I missed DVRing an episode. If you're ever not sure of the site, check the episode list for the show at IMDb.com. They have links to videos.

    *hugs* You'll get by, and with a lot fewer commercials to fastforward through. ;) I went without cable for a long time, and the internet got me through.

    If you haven't watched White Collar or Lie to Me yet, I'd recommend them. And Netflix has the first season of Lie to Me up for instant viewing.

  5. Internet! And you have more time to write! And cable companies are evil SO you have battled the Devil and WON. See, not so bad.

    {hugs}

    I've been there sweetie.

  6. Houston is bad for your health. Time to move to Greenwood, IN.

  7. You said it, sister! I'm working on it, but life is complicated right now. I think there's a good bet that I'm going to land in the Boston area for a little while, and then shift over to Greenwood when Mom and Dad finally sell the house. They're trying, and maybe something good will come down and they'll get an offer. It's about time we got some GOOD luck around here. All of our luck lately has been as rotten as week old fish.
