Letting My Geek Flag Fly

I'm so making these for my brother for Christmas. (Yes, I'm thinking about Christmas crafting already.) And then I'm making a set for myself, too.

The first time I saw Star Wars I was about five. It was my friend's birthday, and her parents took us to a drive-in movie. We had a choice of Star Wars or The Muppet Movie. Being very grown-up five-year-olds, we of course chose Star Wars. And then spent most of the movie watching the Muppets through the back windshield. A year or two later and I was absolutely obsessed with Star Wars. I had figures, cards, the whole nine. I always played Han Solo. (As you might have guessed, I was a bit of a tom boy, and princesses were yucky.) It was a few more years before the benefits of being Leia dawned on me! ;) I still love Harrison Ford, although I do my best to pretend the whole earring thing never happened.

On the knitting front, I am a fool for the Granny's Favorite dishcloth. http://www.jimsyldesign.com/dishbout/kpatterns/grfavorite.html Since last I blogged, I've completed two of them, and I'm 2/3 of the way through a third. Unfortunately, they are all from scraps left over from other projects, so I can't really say I've reduced my stash any. But, hey! I'm making progress on the Christmas knitting!

I started on the Mason Dixon washcloth, and somehow put the bobbles on the wrong side. Whoopsie! I put out a desperate cry for help on Ravelry, and learned that just happens sometimes. Even though you follow the pattern, the bobbles end up on the back. Several people responded saying that all you have to do is poke them through to the front and you'll be fine. I'll mess with it tomorrow and see what I get.

After my picture and project fest this weekend, I remembered six more projects that I have yarn and patterns for. Oy. That brings the total to 25 projects purchased and sitting around in my living room. Not good. I've challenged myself to knit only from stash from now until my birthday. (November) With 25 projects, ranging from dishcloths to socks to blankets, I should have more than enough to keep me busy.
